Roleplaying Terms
Around the site, you might find terms that, if you're not an active forum roleplayer, you may not know what they are. Here, let me help you.
GODDMODDING means controlling another person's character without their permission. If you MUST do this, please, talk to the other players before posting your reply. Any player that considers their character is being controlled by someone else can PM an admin and we'll look into the issue.
POWERPLAYING means that while you, as a player, might know something about a character or situation, YOUR character may not, so you can't play them as if they know it.
ALTERNATE UNIVERSE (AU) means that a character, plot, situation, it's different from the original story. As I've listed on the AU section, Lawyer!BradPitt would be an AU.
IN CHARACTER/OUT OF CHARACTER (IC/OOC) means that when you are playing as a character, you are IC, when not writing as a character, but yourself, the player, you are OOC.
CANON means the original source material that something was taken from. In this case, the canon characters are the real actors we suggest for the site.
ORIGINAL CHARACTER is a character not existing in any canon, but made from scratch by a player. Example, all the members of the Press group would be original.
NPC means a non-player character. This is a character that is not controlled by any player, and doesn't need to be, for a nurse at the hospital your character went to for a stetic surgery. Just someone who is there, but is not important to the storyline. You can godmod these characters, but to keep it organized, you should choose which of the players involved in the thread will control which NPC.
TAGGING the thread means to put parenthesis around a term in the title of a thread. This is used mainly for finished thread, threads that have sensitive content, open threads.
PLAYBYS/FACECLAIMS, are the actors, models, etc. that you can use as the "face" of a character.
OPEN threads mean that any character who has a reason to be in a thread can join in the thread marked this way. Otherwise, a thread will usually be marked with what character the thread is intended for. Example: "'Name of the thread' [Characters involved]"
